WorkSafe Saskatchewan regional workshop
WorkSafe Saskatchewan invites you to join the 2024 WorkSafe Saskatchewan regional workshop on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024 at Southeast College in Estevan, Sask.
This year’s workshop will feature a keynote presentation on psychological health and safety, as well as presentations on industrial ergonomics and the prevention of serious injuries and fatalities in the workplace. Learn more about the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board, safety association updates and network with other Saskatchewan employers.

Cally Kearley, Energy Safety Canada
Cally Kearley is a dedicated professional with a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology, exercise and sport studies from the University of Saskatchewan. Her career journey has been marked by impactful roles and significant achievements.
Starting as the director of health and recreation at the YMCA of Saskatoon, Cally worked closely with volunteers, taught classes and provided personal training services. Her passion for health and wellness led her to Schlumberger, where she served as an injury prevention kinesiologist for North America. In this role, Cally excelled in teaching body mechanics coaching, conducting field visits to warm up workers for their tasks and assessing their ergonomic techniques. She played a crucial role in injury investigations and facilitated work placements during recovery.
Currently, Cally is a program manager on the evaluations training team at Energy Safety Canada. Her responsibilities include training new safety instructors through the train-the-trainer program, auditing instructor performance and analyzing student feedback.
Cally hopes that her ability to blend science with practical solutions serves as a resource for preventing workplace injuries.
Owen Bertram, SaskPower
Owen Bertram is the manager of partnerships and public safety at SaskPower. He is responsible for the business partner team that supports SaskPower leadership and is also responsible for the public safety initiatives. Owen has been with SaskPower for 15 years, 9 years in the safety department in management. Owen has previously held the roles of human resources consultant and director of labour relations within SaskPower. Previous to SaskPower, Owen worked the majority of his career within Human Resources. Owen is committed to his family, our contractors, our fellow staff and the public coming home safe each evening.
Allan Reimer, SaskPower
Allan Reimer is one of the managers in the safety department at SaskPower. He is responsible for the field safety support and investigations team. His team consists of ten field safety support staff who support field workers at all generation facilities as well as transmission, distribution and aviation. The team also has three investigators that lead incident investigations when actual or potential consequences may be high.
Allan has been with SaskPower for 12 years. He supported the hydro and renewables area of generation as a safety coordinator for four years and has been in the manager role for the last eight years. Previous to coming to SaskPower, Allan worked in the mining industry for 28 years. Allan has his Canadian registered safety professional designation and is committed to his family and everyone getting home safe at the end of the day.
Nick Carleton, University of Regina
Nicholas Carleton, Ph.D. is a professor of clinical psychology and a registered clinical psychologist in Saskatchewan. His work is focused on supporting the mental health of first responders and other public safety personnel. He served as founding scientific director for the Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment until 2024. Nick has published more than 250 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters exploring the fundamental bases of anxiety and trauma-related disorders. He has completed over 500 national and international conference presentations. He also serves as an active member of several national and international professional associations. As principal or co-principal investigator, Nick has been awarded more than $72M in competitive external funding. He has received several prestigious awards and recognitions, including induction to the Royal Society of Canada’s College and as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and he was awarded the 2023 Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation Mid-Career Award and the 2020 Royal-Mach-Gaensslen Prize for mental health research. He is principal investigator for the RCMP Longitudinal PTSD Study (www.rcmpstudy.ca) and the associated extension study for Saskatchewan public safety personnel (www.saskptsistudy.ca), and co-investigator on the Federal Internet Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Program for public safety personnel (pspnet.ca).
