This session will provide an overview of submitting a claim and the steps taken within the WCB, with a focus on the WCB’s transformation efforts surrounding work disability prevention and collaborative return-to-work planning.

New workers to Saskatchewan and young workers are nearly twice as likely to sustain workplace injuries, even after accounting for job types. This presentation will introduce a new collaborative provincial approach that will address new worker and youth injuries, with a goal of making Saskatchewan a safer place to work.

This session will introduce participants to behavioral and organizational psychology, complexity science and system thinking as it pertains to the prevention of serious incidents and fatalities. An overview of a variety of practical approaches and tools will be covered such as the energy wheel, safety-critical steps, 4Ds©, learning teams, causal reasoning and energy-based safety auditing. Each of these tools will be explored through the lens of industrial work scenarios to harness the adaptive capacity of humans in pursuit of resilient systems.
