COVID-19 Work Safe e-course

Today’s COVID-19 workplace guidelines are important, but they are only part of the solution. Effective, trackable training is a critical but missing ingredient.

WorkSafe Saskatchewan is offering employers a free COVID-19 Work Safe course that aims to reduce anxiety for business owners, workers and customers to help sustain safe workplaces during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is a 40-minute interactive, online course that provides employees with practical knowledge and training to help keep themselves, their co-workers and their customers safe. The rapid deployment of this COVID-19 workplace training is made possible by the SkillsPass online training platform, where the training is hosted.

Saskatchewan workplaces are required to have an exposure control plan (ECP). This course can help employers start developing an ECP. The course brings workers to a common understanding of the ways that COVID-19 can enter the body, as well as signs and symptoms of the disease. Employers can use this information to identify and implement control measures. To continue the work of meeting the full requirements of an ECP, learn more here. Depending on the circumstances in the workplace, additional training may be necessary to apply the ECP and ensure health and safety of workers.

Businesses and organizations can use the SkillsPass platform to assign the COVID-19 Work Safe course to workers by sending a simple email link. Employers also have access to a tracking module to view completion records from employees.

Course material is comprehensive and focuses on reinforcement of key concepts through a multimedia presentation. The course is updated regularly, can be translated upon request and is adaptable to address local conditions in jurisdictions.

There is also a COVID-19 Work Safe Leader designation for businesses who train over 80 per cent of their workers, which is tracked through the SkillsPass platform in your employer account. The COVID-19 Work Safe Leader designation will include a recognition letter from WorkSafe Saskatchewan and print and digital decals for display in offices, on vehicles, safety equipment, websites, social media, etc.
